Longevity

Richard Drane of Turnagrough, farmer, is now in the 90th year of his age and to a moderate extent possessed of all his natural faculties, and still able to conduct his farming business, attend the neighbouring fairs and markets and work when necessity requires it. His wife, Mary Drane, is in her 85th year of her age and in tolerable possession of her faculties, but grievously troubled with rheumatic pains; but yet retentive and quick of apprehension. They were both bred in this parish. Informants Richard and Mary Drane.

Markets

Torneygrough: markets Belfast; conveyance: cars and carts: prices: oats 6s 6d per cwt, potatoes 1s per cwt, oatmeal 11s 6d per cwt; charges for conveyance; about 3s per load of about 8 or 10 cwt; produce: potatoes and oats; soil gravelly ; manures: dung ; surface: gently undulating; flax: very little, 1d ha‘penny can be earned by day; spinning: very little; weaving: a little linen and calico; pasture land: principally pasture (mountain); average produce: 100 bushels of potatoes per English acre, 8 cwt of oats.

The following is a list of the number of persons that have emigrated to America during the years 1835 and 1836. It will show the name, age and religion of each person, the townland in which they resided and the ports to which the different persons have gone, as enumerated from 10th August to 15th September 1837 (all in 1835, to New York except the first named)
