Obituary
Nurse Long. The death of Sister Helen Mary Long at the District Hospital on the 5th inst., came as a great shock. She had been ill for only a few days, when pneumonia developed, and all that could be done to combat the malady proved unavailing. Sister Long joined the staff of the Institution about five years ago as theatre nurse. She possessed the highest qualifications for the responsible position and performed her difficult duties with such intelligence and skill as to merit the utmost confidence of the doctors. Always cheerful, good-natured, tender and sympathetic, she was very popular alike with the nursing staff and the patients. Her sudden removal cast a deep gloom over the institution and occasioned much grief. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral took place on Thursday morning, when the remains were removed for interment in the family burying-ground at Kinlough, Co. Leitrim. Prior to the removal of the coffin, on the lid which were a number of handsome wreaths, a short service was conducted by the rev. W. Hall and Rev. H.T. Cotter. The funeral arrangements were carried out by the firm of Wm. Jellie, Railway Street.
