Joseph Nelson Reid was born on 13th February 1878. He was the son of William nelson Reid and Ann Peel.

The following extract is from the Belfast Evening Telegraph dated Monday 22nd February 1915.
Reid – February 20, 1915, at the First Eastern Hospital, Cambridge, died of wounds, Private Joseph Reid, 1st Battalion Irish Guards, the dearly-beloved husband of Sarah Reid, 121 Argyle Street.
Now the labourer’s task is o’er;
No the battle day is past;
Now upon the farther shore
Lands the voyager at last.
