Antrim Guardian 16 02 2017The most recent "Digger" article in the Antrim Guardian centered around William James Collins, a former Schoolmaster, who was at Fourscore School, Glenavy and Massereene School, Antrim. The son of John Collins and Charlotte Ann (Nee Branagh),he was born on 8th February, 1880 at Aghnaliss townland, Ballinderry, County Antrim. He arrived at Fourscore school in January 1909. He was assisted initially by Junior Assistant Mistress Louisa Smyth Ingram. In July 1912 he left Fourscore School, and less than a week of his leaving date he married Evelyn Ingram, a sister of Louisa Ingram and daughter of James and Elizabeth Ingram from Crumlin. James Ingram was initially from Ballysessy, Glenavy. William James Collins is pictured here with pupils at Massereene School. He passed away suddenly in January 1938 and he is buried in Antrim cemetery. Thanks to Len Kinley for providing the photograph of William J. We are trying to identify the pupils in the photograph and we would be delighted to hear from anyone who can provide any names. ... See MoreSee Less
